How EV software updates keep your car improving — even after purchase
Modern EVs receive over-the-air updates that improve range, charging speed, infotainment, and ADAS features.
Unlike traditional cars, modern EVs are software-defined. The same hardware can pick up real range, charging-curve, and feature improvements long after delivery, simply through over-the-air (OTA) updates pushed by the manufacturer.
Recent examples: BYD has rolled out OTA updates that smooth regen, refine HVAC efficiency, and add new infotainment apps. Zeekr has shipped charging-curve optimizations that cut 10–80% DC charge times on the 001 and X. XPeng's XNGP releases regularly extend the operating envelope of the ADAS stack.
Some updates, however, are dealer-only: BMS reflashes after a battery fault, ADAS calibrations after a windshield change, and firmware fixes that correct a recall. EVLAB performs OEM-grade firmware reflashes for AVATR, BYD, NIO, Zeekr, XPeng, and Geely, and we always validate that the OTA channel on your car is healthy before signing off on a service.
